Add def: N. A. Kemper. Pla. was convicted by the Caldwell (judge in the case) of several misdemeanors and ordered to pay fines and costs. Pla. was unable to make payment and sentenced to the county workhouse. T. A. Sykes, Wm. Perkins, and J. P. Rhines then delivered several notes to satisfy plaintiff’s costs and obtain his release. Def. later brought suit against said notes and received judgement. Pla. complained that he was then unlawfully re-arrested and placed in a workhouse to work off the debt. |

The plaintiff stated that Wilson attempted to board a passenger car operated by the defendant and when he went to hand his money to the conductor, the conductor then wilfully drew a pistol and fired five shots, killing Wilson without just cause. |

Minor child Virgil Howard Cantrell, 12, was riding in a school bus operated by H. E. Hudson when Hudson stopped, causing the boy to be thrown out the open emergency door. Virgil was said to have suffered great physical pain and anguish; he died a few hours later. Photographs of the bus and road were introduced as evidence. Koontz was the administrator of the late James Koontz, killed by an automobile driven by Fleming. Koontz had been riding in a mail truck when he and the post carrier stopped to give assistance to a wrecked driver. Fleming, said to be driving recklessly, fatally injured Koontz, who was survived by wife Tobitha and children Daisy Kiser, Lucy Phillips, Birt Koontz, Elmer Koontz, Lamer Koontz, and plaintiff Newton Koontz. Damages were asked to recover death-related costs incurred by the family. |

During prohibition of alcohol in the United States, Sparks was found guilty of posessing intoxicating alcohol in the form of multiple crocks of whiskey. Sparks insisted this was not his whiskey. His defense argues that the justice of the peace did not have probable cause when issuing the search warrant, and therefore a new trial is necessary. |

Bean claimed that her husband was working atop a train when it went under a low bridge, causing him to strike beams projecting from the bridge. He was injured so badly that he suffered great physical pain and mental anguish before he died a few hours later. |

Williams was indicted for "malicious stabbing" on Aug 27, 1873, and was scheduled to appear for trial on Dec. 23, 1873. Defendant's father M.M. Williams posted a security bond promising to deliver defendant for his trial. Defendant did not appear for his trial. State sought payment on the security bond of $1000 for failure of defendant to appear at his trial. M.M. Williams claimed he delivered his son to the sheriff who allowed the defendant to escape. James Coe was the victim. |
