Owen admr. for & father of Clopton Owen who, on 29 Sept. 1908, was struck and killed by a streetcar owned & operated by the defendant as he was walking home from school. Owen sued for $25,000 in damages. Owen charges negligence in that the motorman gave no warning of his approach & the street car was not equipped with a fender which, had it been present, could have prevented the injuries that took his son's life. Other defendant: Pat King. Robert McBride, son of the complainant, was killed while working his onboard railroad job in the Jackson, TN, freight yards. Company stated that he had signed a contract relieving railroad of any responsibility for injury or death. Vesta McBride wanted compensation for her son's death. Includes map of the Frogmore freight yards. Gruesome details of Robert's death are recorded in this document. First page very wrinkled. Couldn't remove brads.
