Plaintiff sued defendant for $2500 & interest, plus statutory penalty of 25% of the amount due. On Aug. 1935 plaintiff's left hand was accidentally severed above the right wrist by a saw. Doctors were able to reattach the hand, but it is essentially useless. Metropolitan Life has refused to honor the claim, although the plaintiff's policy was paid up & in force at the time the accident occurred.
