Crump served as mayor of Memphis 3 two year terms. Influential in politics for nearly fifty years. Edward Crump was officially elected Mayor of Memphis in Nov. 1909. He beat out J. J. Williams who went to the Legislative Council and contested the election of Crump. Crump charging that Legis. council. has no authority to determine outcome of election.
