Gaar, Scott & Company v. Hughes & Hatcher

Gaar, Scott & Company is an Indiana corporation. Hughes & Hatcher is George T. Hughes and E. H. Hatcher residents of Maury County. Prior to October, 1891, complainant was the owner of a note for $185.00 made by B. H. McKennon which was over due. The note was given to Hughes & Hatcher for collection. They placed the note with J. C. McGaw, a constable of the County who collected the money due - $208.85. When the money was collected, it was deposited in a bank that was failing.
