Notes / Description:
This dealt with Confederate treasury notes which was used in exchange for bank note in February 1862. The Union Bank of Tennessee would not honor the notes. The laws of War were in place which prevented payment of note. One year later the note was presented to a New Orleans Bank and they would not honor it either because it was Confederate notes. There was money in the bank to honor the notes, but in September, 1863 the U.S. Military authorities removed the money.
