Thomas Owen, formerly a resident of Georgia in 1783 registered 5000 acres of land in Tennessee with the land office in North Carolina, paying in full. Owen died, leaving a will, & the family discovered no legally registered grant or land deed. Bullock settled on the land, as did other defendants. McKenzie made claim to the land suing the other occupants and claimants.
