Barbara & Richard F. Reynolds, their nephew, & a "colored boy" named Joseph Reynolds were in their house when Webb & Dave Duncan broke in. Webb said if they gave him $400 he would go away. Webb raped Mrs. Reynolds outside after tying her up. He shot Mr. Reynolds 4 times, killing him. Joseph was also shot. Webb then took all their jewelry & confederate money. He was sentenced to be hanged. Webb was put up to it by Joseph Ayers; Richard had killed Ayers' father.
