Defendant was engaged in a "negro insurance business." The complainant was paying on a sick & accident policy that would provide $200 a week for the first 6 months & $4 per week after. The insured entitled to benefits only if she was bedridden for 7 consecutive days. She had been confined to bed since December 18, 1912, on doctors' orders. Insurer quit paying so when an agent came to collect on weekly premium, Perkins refused to pay. Company accused of preying on the "poor, ignorant and friendless."
