Notes / Description:

In 1806, Lawrence Smith owned land in Williamson County on Murphy's Fork of the West Harpeth River. When he took possession, he cleared 20 acres, and purchased a house on the land built by Robert Brown. James Black then claimed that he was the true owner of the house and land, and it had been granted to him by John Armstrong. Suit sought to settle true ownership of the property.
