Notes / Description:

Cooper loaned Horton a horse, and it died while he was using it. Horton claims he said he would ride the horse to Flat Gap in Hawkins County & back, but the horse became ill & died. He was accused of "converting" the horse, or using it for a purpose other than agreed upon. Horton offered a portion of the horse's stomach as proof that the horse died of botts (botflies), the maggots having eaten through the walls of the horse's stomach. She sued to recover the value of the horse.
