Notes / Description:

The Board of Education is that of Memphis City Schools. Michael Joyce rented the Board of Education a "municipal corporation chartered under the laws of the state of Tennessee…for a term of one year." The Board of Education used the premises as a city school. They often paid Joyce in 'script'. Joyce would sell the script to get his money but it often would not bring full value due to the fluctuating gold price. The board was supposed to make up the difference. He sued for money owed.
