Mr. Harkleroad was killed suddenly at work by walking into or stumbling against the corner of a wooden box, perforating his intestines. Because fecal matter seeped into his gut, he died after developing peritonitis and gangrene. As the complainant's employee, he had a $1000 life insurance policy which his widow wanted to redeem. More than 25 people testified, and their names are indexed.
