Garner & wife Susan, both free, owned land off of Broadway. Garner gave Susan power of attorney & she sold the land to David Kalear, who paid $600 in advance, but never paid the debt off. Susan then left Nashville for Canada with an enslaved man, belonging to William Hoon, named Edmond who had recently emancipated himself. The nephews of Philip Garner, William & Henry, sued to get the remainder of the value of the property. Pages 204-235 missing. See Jamison v. Kalear in same box.
