Roberts and Loans were business partners with Young. Bell bought all of the furniture and fixtures from the City Hotel in Nashville in 1867 for $21,250. The def's had been in the hotel business, but Bell was engaged in mercantile work. Bell paid with multiple notes, and accused the def's of fraudulently pricing the furniture, as well as selling some of it to other buyers before Bell had a chance to collect. Inventory details hotel's contents, including servant spaces, and basement.
