Rowan said Hildebrand sold him what Hildebrand falsely claimed was 2 written covenants from John H. Johnston to pay money to Peter Hildebrand (who had sold occupancy claims to Johnston). Rowan filed suit to recover damages for such false claims. Jury ruled in Rowan's favor; court granted new trial. New jury ruled in Hildebrand's favor; again court granted new trial. In third trial, jury ruled in Rowan's favor & new trial refused. Witnesses: Samuel H. Johnston (John's son), Wm Carter, others.
