The parties entered into a contract in 1854 in which the defendant swore to supply a large amount of land, men, supplies, and houses for the plaintiff and his family free of rent. The defendant also guaranteed the plaintiff a fifth of the crop for over- seeing the seasonal growing. The defendant never gave the plaintiff his fair share of the crops, even feeding a portion of the plaintiff's corn to his hogs. The bill includes money for labor and not receiving any crops.
