Jones is the widow of William E. Jones. Her, along with her children and grandchildren are bring a suit against Townsend over a tract of land that belonged to William Jones. The defendant, Townsend, allegedly set up a claim to the land. Timber was being cut off the land and the plaintiffs were not happy about it. The tract was about 1150 acres. Sampson Lane died in 1852 it seems while in Mississippi. Among the property disputed is a number of slaves and stock in the Memphis and Charleston Railroad Company. His widow seems to have inherited a portion while she held a job on Shelby Street in Memphis. She seems to have died later and part of this dispute arises from her death. |

Co. of New York for which they paid $200 on machinery fixed and movable in the 3 story cotton mill in Memphis near the Wolf River and Court Square. In November 1866 a fire damaged or destroyed enough of the property to make the Columbia Fire Ins. Co. liable. The plaintiffs sue to force payment. |

The defendant is a "Tax Collector on Privileges." Plaintiffs applied for a business license from Mathes. They agreed to pay him a the end of 12 months the amount of capital invested in the business during the 12 month period.
