Opinion only. Claiborne Wolfe, former husband of Hannah Dalton, owned 2 horses at his death; the title of whom went to his widow. Hannah sold the horses for two notes, one $200 and the other $100. Wolfe, as admr. Of the estate, collected the $3200 note and used all proceeds except $5 to pay debt of the estate and gave the $5 to the widow. The $100 note was given to Wolfe's successor, Brey, who gave it to her upon decree in bill filed by her to make Wolfe responsible for $200 note. |

24-5 years before, William Harbison had bargained and sold or contracted to sell a tract of land to the defendant. Harbison sued Cassaday [alt. spelled Cassady and Cassidy] for unpaid promissory note for the purchase money. Harbison wanted to enforce the lien, sell the land, and its proceeds used to pay the note. |

Kelly, et al. as plaintiffs sued defendants who had jointly with them signed a promissory note for $2752 payable to James Levan. Levan had sued Kelly et al. and E.F. Redfield & Co. for note. Redfield & Co. now insolvent and borrowed money from Pryor. Plaintiffs want an account taken of their transactions-to know amount borrowed and what merchandise given to Pryor. |

Johnson sued Waddle for $900. Johnson and Houston were partners in trade and it was agreed when partnership was settled, that Houston would pay 2 notes or debts due by firm to Jane Boyd and Charles Evans. Houston failed to pay either party. In previous suit against WAdd.e, judgment was rendered against Johnson for a note he gave Houston. Johnson wants stay of execution against WAdd.e for the note and the judgment set aside. |

Additional defendants: Samuel R. McCamy and Benjamin Chandler. Defendants were partners under Thompson & Co. Anderson was accommodation endorser for the firm Chandler & Co. and Thompson & Co. Anderson sued for liability on a $1000 bill from October 1860 which was removed from the bank and debt never paid. Planters Bank had brought suit against defendants, including Anderson, and won. Anderson was compelled to pay the $1000. Now he's suing to be held accountable only as accom. Endorser. |

Opinion only. John W. Harworth[?], an agent of William R. Harworth[?], had a note for collection on Stephens and H.A. Harworth for $1000 in 1858 with a credit of $506. In 1862, Stephens gave John W. Harworth an order on McDowell, McGaughy & Co. for the amount of the note. J.W. Harworth wanted it paid to him in Confederate treasury notes, which was done. Malery suing because payment was an illegal currency. |

The plaintiff sued the defendant for $670, the value of two promissory notes that were due in Feb 1862. The defendant alleges that since the notes were meant to be received in Confederate money that makes them invalid, the plaintiff says Confederate money was valid. In the first trial the jury found in favor of the plaintiff. |
